The Runa Empire is divided into two social classes: The Hutan, the ruling class and the Uran, the labor class. Regardless of class, Runans are extremely proud of the Empire and its accomplishments. All people of the Runa Empire value efficiency and practicality and this can be seen in the Empire’s military structure as rank is awarded based on merit and not social class. The vast majority of people serve a military term, as this is necessary to gain Citizenship and all the rights and responsibilities that entails. The military is also in charge of maintaining the nation’s intricate road systems, building new aqueducts, and repairing public buildings. The second great love of the Runa people is their art work, which normally depicts historical epics or waves and geometric patterns. While normally very reserved the Runa people are know to completely throw themselves into the the revelry of their holidays. The Runa people are very aware of the social order and tend to operate well within set authorities.
In the last twelve years, Runa has expanded its borders through a mixture of colonization and conquest. The Ger sacking Xheng, followed by the Voidic invasion, caused a power vacuum that Runa is intent to fill. They sent refugees from the wars to the Obsidian Isles, uninhabited islands to the southwest, along with some support from the Runa military. However, the most controversial expansion has been the conquest of Galiff, a continent thought to be lost until it reappeared in 1611. Of the three native people of Galiff, the Aemoa have been befriended, the Lacon stand mostly neutral, and the Jay’ek fight bitterly against the Runa army. This conflict is still ongoing.
