In Game Song Lyics Collection

Hey guys,
wouldn't it be nice if when people attempt to preform songs in game more than just the one person knew the lyrics?
To that end I'm going to post the in game lyrics to some of the songs I've rewritten, and I encourage others to do the same right here.

Southern Leode

In Southern Leode I was born
Heave away, haul away
Southern Leode by the shore
We're bound for Southern Leode

Refrain: Haul away on rolling Kings
Heave away, haul away
Haul away I'll hear ya sing
We're bound for Southern Leode

Twas on the Martel River there
Heave Away, Haul Away
That's where I met Miss Nancy Blaire
We're bound for southern Leode

Refrain

I shook her up I shook her down
Heave away, haul away
I shook her round and round the town
We're bound for Southern Leode

Refrain

There's just one thought which grieves me mind
Heave away haul away
To leave Miss Nancy Blaire behind
We're bound for Southern Leode

Refrain

Tan Gorsed Born, Tan Gorsed Bred
Heave Away, Haul Away
Strong in the arm, but thick in the head
We're bound for Southern Leode
Refrain

Up and Away in the Morning

Oh when I was a young man
I lived by the sea span
Me folks kept a tavern call the admirals head
And old salts by the fire side
Would tell of the seas wide
The tall masted ships and the lives that they led

Well it's up and away in the morning
Oh the tears my poor mother has cried
But the sea she had called me
And you may say I'm balmy
But I took to her just like a bride
Yes it's up and away in the morning

Oh I walked into Bristol
With cutlass and thistle
A new boson's whistle
And a swaggering stead
And without too much censure
I soon was indentured
On a crew of adventure and the admiral said

Lads it's up and away in the morning
With the wind to our backs we will sail
And the ship may well send ye
from here to Boreni
where they'll serve up the rum by the pail
Yes it's up and away in the morning

Now some see the sea as a sickness
but we feel a thickness
when ere we're not shortening sail
and we see the sea lifting fosail and bowsprit
as the storm hits the ships
and we run for the gail

and it's up and away in the morning
oh the salt spray tastes finer than wine
dawn on the horizon to the size of the prize
and the taking of a ship of the line
yes it's up and away in the morning

And it's up and away in the morning
With the wind to our backs we will sail
And the ship may well send ye
From here to Boreni
Where the storms and the waves
They will shake ya and rend ye
And you'll do desperate deeds
So that none would defend ye
But there's no place that we'd rather be
And it's up and away in the morning
And though we may never go home
We will think of it often
Till the day that our lead weighted
Coffins get tossed in the foam
Yes it's up and away in the morning

The Minstrel Boy

The minstrel boy to the war has gone
In the ranks of death you will find him
His father's sword he hath girded on
And his wild harp slung behind him
Land of song said the warrior bard
Though all the world betrays thee
One sword at least thy right shall guard
One faithful harp shall praise thee

The minstrel fell but the foe man's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under
The harp he loved ne'er spoke again
For he tore its chords asunder
And said no chain shall sully thee
Though soul of love and bravery
Thy songs were meant for the proud and free
They shall never sound in slavery

The minstrel boy shall return again
Torn perhaps in body not in spirit
The harp he love shall sound once more
When we hear its notes we shall cheer it
And then may he play his harp in peace
In a world that's held as intended
When all the works of war shall cease
And every battle must be ended

Ramblin Rover

Refrain

Oh there are sober men a plenty
and drunkards barely twenty
there are men of over ninety
who have never yet kissed a girl
give me the rambling rover
from Arkely down to Dover
we'll roam the country over
and together we'll face the world

oh there are those who feign enjoyment
from merciless employment
there profession misdeployment
from the minute they left their school
they scrape and save and plunder
while the rest go off and squander
see the world a northern wonder
and their happier as a rule

Refrain

Oh I have been through all the nations
to delight in all creation
I've enjoyed a wee sensation
when the company did prove fine
when parting was not pleasure
I drank another measure
to the good friends that we treasure
for they always are on our mind

Refrain

oh if you're bent up with arthritis
you bowels have got colitis
you've got galloping malanchitis
and you're thinking it's time ye die
if you've been a man of action
but you're lying there in traction
you can gain some satisfaction
thinking jeeze well at least ya tried

Refrain

Health to the company

Kind friends and companions come join me in rhyme
come lift up your voices in chorus with mine
come lift up your voices all grief to refrain
for we may or might never all meet here again

Refrain
here's a health to the company and one to my lass
let us drink and be merry all out of one glass
let us drink and be merry all grief to refrain
for we may or might never all meet here again

here's a health to the dear lass that I love so well
for her smile and her beauty sure none can excel
there's a smile on her countinence as she sits on my knee
there's no man in this wide world as happy as me

Refrain

our ship lies at anchor she's ready to dock
I wish her safe landing without any shock
if ever I should meet thee by land or by sea
I will always remember your kindness to mee

Rivers and Roads

A year from now we'll all be gone
All our friends will move away
And they're goin' to better places
But our friends will be gone away

Nothin' is as it has been
And I miss your face like hell
And I guess it's just as well
But I miss your face like hell

Ohhh oh oh
Ohhh oh
Ohhh oh oh
Ohhh oh

Been talkin' 'bout the way things change
And my family lives in a different place
If you don't know what to make of this
Then we will not relate
So if you don't know what to make of this
Then we will not relate

Ohhh oh oh
Ohhh oh
Ohhh oh oh
Ohhh oh

Ohhh oh oh
Ohhh oh
Ohhh oh oh
Ohhh oh

Rivers and roads
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you

Rivers and roads
Oh rivers and roads
Oh rivers 'til I reach you

Rivers and roads/(Ohhhh)
Rivers and roads
Rivers 'til I reach you
[Repeat 6x]

*Not all repeats are always sung

The Mermaid

Twas Friday more when we sailed out
and we were not far from the land
our captain he spied a fishy mermaid
with a comb and a glass in her hand

Refrain
Oh ocean winds may blow
stormy waves may roll
but we poor sailors go skipping through the tops
while the landlubbers lie down below below below
while the landlubbers lie down below

Our ship chased her into a maelstrom
in the whirlpool we were caught
could not escape, though we backed oars
with peril we certainly were fraught

Refrain

Then up spoke the captain of our gallant ship
and a well spoken man was he
I got me a wife in Tan Gorsed
and tonight she'll be weepin for me

Refrain

Then up spoke the mate of our gallant ship
and a salty old tar was he
I know all the girls in Manta town
and it's them, I never more will see

Refrain

Then up spoke the cook of our gallant ship
and a red hot cooker was he
I care much more for my kettles and my pots
than I do for the bottom of the sea

Refrain

The up spoke the cabin boy of our gallant ship
and a very young lad was he
I should have listened to my dear mama
and I never should have gone to sea

Refrain

So three times around went our gallant ship
and three times around went she
three times around went our gallant ship
then she dashed against the bottom of the sea

Refrain

My Last Night On Shore

We were fresh from the sea
our pockets full of money
when me and me mateys
we headed for the bar
no sooner'd we arrived
than one pint turned ta five
a lassie grabbed me by the belt
we headed for the stairs

Refrain
Oh Brother don't wake me
don't jostle or shake me
I spent all me money with the ladies by the port
and if I never wake
don't cry and don't shake
just sing the glorious tales of my last night upon the shore

we drank fifteen kegs of beer
whiskeys from far and near
we ate up all their venison
we took down all the stew
and when we had run dry
we did not just stand by
a raiding party went next door
ta liberate more brew

Refrain

There were redheads there were blonds
brunettes of which I'm fond
we'd ply them with cheap alcohol
they wouldn't leave our sides
before the night was through
we each had one or two
by midnight our young cabin boy
had found himself a bride

Refrain

Things started to go queer
when Pat stole Kelly's beer
so he put his fist into Pat's face
and started up a fight
the brawl raged all around
we tore the tavern down
but we rescued all the kegs
so we could drink all through the night

Refrain

now me head is sore and achey
me bones are bruised and creaky
and I don't truly expect that
I shall live to see the light
tell me girl and her sister
till the day she dies I'll miss her
but in the mornin if I'm living
I'll be back tomorrow night

Refrain

Here's to Beer that Tastes Like Beer

Refrain
Here's to beer that tastes like beer!
An amber glass of wholesome cheer
A noble brew that has no peer
Beer that Tastes Like Beer!

For centurys the brewers craft
Produced the most exquisite draft
When he brews with what he oughter
Barley malt, hops, yeast and water.

Refrain

Let cheese be cheese and bread be bread
Don't serve us soap and cake instead
While sausages may cause some fear *
For goodness sake let beer be beer!

Refrain

Among the most requested favors
Please avoid exotic flavors
Fruits and nuts and spices queer
Have no place in honest beer!

Refrain

Oh stay the bung don't drive the spile
On concoctions rank with adjuncts bile
Cornflakes, rice and rats from sewers
Fine for cooks but not for brewers

Refrain

So stick with what is plain and true
A beery tasting smelling brew
Then you'll earn our highest rating
Refreshing yet intoxicating!

So here's to beer that tastes like beer
an amber glass of wholesome cheer
a noble brew that has no peer
beer that looks like
beer that smells like
beer that tastes like beer

Over the Hills and Far Away

Here's fourteen silver on the drum
to those who volunteer to come
to list and fight and fall today
o'er the hills and far away

Refrain
O'er the hills and O'er the maine
to Ger, to Runa, and to Xheng
our king commands and we obey
o'er the hills and far away

All Gentilemen which have a mind
to serve a king what's good and kind
should list and enter into pay
o'er the hills and far away

Refrain

When duty calls we all must go
to stand and face another fall
and march into another fray
o'er the hills and far away

Refrain

If I should fall to fight no more
as many comrades did before
then ask the drums and fifes to play
O'er the hills and far away

Refrain

then fall in lads behind the drum
with colours blazing like the sun
along the road to come what may
O'er the hills and far away

Refrain

We are two mariners
Our ship's sole survivors
In this belly of a whale
It's ribs are ceiling beams
It's guts are carpeting
I guess we have some time to kill
You may not remember me
I was a child of three
And you, a lad of eighteen
But, I remember you
And I will relate to you
How our histories interweave
At the time you were
A rake and a roustabout
Spending all your money
On the whores and hounds
(Oh, oh)

You had a charming air
All cheap and debonair
My widowed mother found so sweet
And so she took you in
Her sheets still warm with him
Now filled with filth and foul disease
As time wore on you proved
A debt-ridden drunken mess
Leaving my mother
A poor consumptive wretch
(Oh, oh)

And then you disappeared
Your gambling arrears
The only thing you left behind
And then the magistrate
Reclaimed our small estate
And my poor mother lost her mind
Then, one day in spring
My dear sweet mother died
But, before she did
I took her hand as she, dying, cried:
(Oh, oh)

"Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave"

It took me fifteen years
To swallow all my tears
Among the urchins in the street
Until a priory
Took pity and hired me
To keep their vestry nice and neat
But, never once in the employ
Of these holy men
Did I ever, once turn my mind
From the thought of revenge
(Oh, oh)

One night I overheard
The prior exchanging words
With a penitent whaler from the sea
The captain of his ship
Who matched you toe to tip
Was known for wanton cruelty
The following day I shipped to sea
With a privateer
And in the whistle Of the wind
I could almost hear
(Oh, oh)

"Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave

There is one thing I must say to you
As you sail across the sea
Always, your mother will watch over you
As you avenge this wicked deed"

And then, that fateful night
We had you in our sight
After twenty months, it seemed
Your starboard flank abeam
I was getting my muskets clean
When came this rumbling from beneath
The ocean shook
The sky went black
And the captain quailed
And before us grew
The angry jaws
Of a giant whale

Don't know how I survived
The crew all was chewed alive
I must have slipped between his teeth
But, oh, what providence
What divine intelligence
That you should survive
As well as me
It gives my eye great joy
To see your eyes fill with fear
To lean in close
And I will whisper
The last words you'll hear
(Oh, oh)

"Find him, bind him
Tie him to a pole and break
His fingers to splinters
Drag him to a hole until he
Wakes up naked
Clawing at the ceiling
Of his grave

Oh all the money that e'er I had
I spent it in good company
And all the harm that e'er I've done
Alas, it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all

So Fill to me the parting glass
and drink a health whate'er befalls
i'll gently rise and softly call
goodnight and joy be to you all

Oh all the comrades that e'er I've had
Are sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I've had
Would wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call
Good night and joy be to you all

So fill to me the parting glass
and drink a health whate'er befalls
I'll gently rise and softly call
goodnight and joy be to you all

a man may drink and not get drunk
a man may fight and not be slain
a man may go to see the world
and someday soon come home again
but since I did so oft forget
my time to rise and then to fall
I'll gently rise and softly call
goodnight and joy be to you all

so fill to me the parting glass
I'll drink a health whate'er befalls
then gently rise and softly fall
goodnight and joy be to you all

I heard them calling in the distance
So I packed my things and ran
Far away from all the trouble
I had caused with my two hands
Alone we traveled on with nothing but a shadow
We fled far away
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)
Through the woods we ran (Deep into the mountain sound)
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)
Through the woods we ran

Some hid scars and some hid scratches
It made me wonder about their past
And as I looked around, I began to notice
That we were nothing like the rest
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)
Through the woods we ran (Deep into the mountain sound)
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)
Through the woods we ran
Whoa,
We sleep until the sun goes down
Whoa,
We sleep until the sun goes down
Whoa,
We sleep until the sun goes down

Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)
Through the woods we ran (Deep into the mountain sound)
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)
Through the woods we ran
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)
Through the woods we ran (Deep into the mountain sound)
Hold your horses now (We sleep until the sun goes down)

Through the woods we ran
La la la, whoa, la la la
We sleep until the sun goes down
La la la, whoa whoa, la la la
We sleep until the sun goes

The river is flowing,
flowing and growing,
the river is flowing

Oh, as I went home on Monday night
As drunk as drunk could be
I saw a horse outside the door
Where my old horse should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her
"Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that horse outside the door
Where my old horse should be?"

Ay, you're drunk, you're drunk you silly old fool
Still you cannot see
That's a lovely sow that my mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've traveled, a hundred miles or more
But a saddle on a sow, sure, I never saw before

And as I went home on Tuesday night
As drunk as drunk could be
I saw a coat behind the door
Where my old coat should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her
"Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that coat behind the door
Where my old coat should be?"

Ay, you're drunk, you're drunk you silly old fool
Still you cannot see
That's a woolen blanket that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've traveled, a hundred miles or more
But buttons on a blanket, sure, I never saw before

And as I went home on Wednesday night
As drunk as drunk could be
I saw a pipe upon the chair
Where my old pipe should be
Well, I called my wife and I said to her
"Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that pipe upon the chair
Where my old pipe should be?"

Ay, you're drunk, you're drunk you silly old fool
Still you cannot see
That's a lovely tin-whistle, that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've traveled, a hundred miles or more
But tobacco in a tin-whistle, sure, I never saw before

And I went home on Thursday night
As drunk as drunk could be
I saw two boots beneath the bed
Where my old boots should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her
"Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns them boots beneath the bed
Where my old boots should be?"

Ay, you're drunk, you're drunk you silly old fool
Still you cannot see
They're two lovely geranium pots me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've traveled, a hundred miles or more
But laces in geranium pots I never saw before

And as I came home on Friday night
As drunk as drunk could be
I saw a head upon the bed
Where my old head should be
Well, I called my wife and I said to her
"Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that head upon the bed
Where my old head should be?"

Ay, you're drunk, you're drunk you silly old fool
Still you cannot see
That's a baby boy that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've traveled, a hundred miles or more
But a baby boy with his whiskers on, sure, I never saw before
