Hey guys,
So we've decided to make a few small tweaks based on some out of game considerations.
Let's start with the big change here, Dark Elves. We concluded that full black makeup isn't the most tasteful makeup choice so we decided to adjust it and make it something more interesting and personalized to AW's world. Since we were adjusting Dark Elves, we also made some small tweaks and adjustments to the makeup for High Elves and Origin Elves so that they all feel related. And while I'm sure you would all love for me to chew your ears off describing the new makeup, staff compiled a lovely document with pictures! (

Please note that the makeup for Half-Elves and Half-Dark Elves has not changed; their pictures were included for general reference.
On a similar vein to the Dark Elf changes we want to add a small recommendation for our Imps who elect to do the full makeup route. Please aim for roughly 1/3rd of your face being red.
The other tweak we made was that we decided to rename the Gypsies to the
Legati (Romanian for bonded). Long story short on this one, we've kept tabs on debates about if the term gypsy is a slur (it is in Europe but is debatable in the US) and we've found that they have recently started leaning towards yes. So we decided to stay ahead of this one and changed the name. We realize that as with any name change there will be some slight confusion during game; however, I wouldn't sweat it too much as we plan to just roll with any slips (saying "do you mean the Legati?" is probably the response I'll use).
Because we are making these changes for out of game reasons, they are retroactive and don't have attached plot (i.e. please don't suddenly wonder in game why the Dark Elves look different because from an IG standpoint we are saying they were always that way). Normally we try our best to not make retroactive changes because of the potential confusion they can cause, but in this situation we really felt it was for the best.
See you this weekend!
Sincerely,
Carmen
